There are some people who are just born to be designers.

Steph Gibson is one of these odd creatures. The first hint was her early obsession with signage. At the age of three, Pacific Produce and Mr. Mattress were particular favourites. By the time she was five years old, Steph was heading up a one-woman card company called The Stephanie Corporation, whose logo was suspiciously similar to Hallmark’s.

For years, Steph pursued a “normal” course, acheiving an Honours degree in History in Art from the University of Victoria, and graduating with distinction. She travelled throughout Europe, India, and Southeast Asia, and worked
as a teacher’s aide.

The lightning bolt finally struck Steph when she realized she
was purchasing a less effective allergy medicine because of
its superior packaging. At that point there was no turning back. Steph began the IDEA program at Capilano College in North Vancouver and has been consumed by design ever since. She is particularly inpsired by typography and packaging. Her work was recognized by the GDC when she was awarded the Adobe National Scholarship.

Steph graduated from the IDEA program in April 2005 and has been freelancing and working in design studios such as Subplot and Karo since then.
